Then that script is put into production and shot as what the creator expects the show to be like. This would be a pilot episode. TV executives look at pilots, not so much at ideas or scripts. Nowadays you could make your own episodes and put them on Youtube. If they get enough of a following and buzz, that may get the notice of TV executives too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03920842556679913629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253026272586371233.post-55431138097496131422018-08-13T22:48:16.531-05:002018-08-13T22:48:16.531-05:001973 Buick Century - two door, only had trunk and ...1973 Buick Century - two door, only had trunk and back seat room. Great car but rusted with a vengeance. 1972 Rambler - grandparents car. Low mileage but nothing but trouble with it. 1980 Chev Malibu wagon - had two of these, one after the other. Great cars, good loading capacity, but horrible for rust. Then a 1988 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon. Great car, hardly any trouble with it. By the early 2000s after years of diligently saving and investing, I began hitting my financial goals. As a reward for that (and for a tax write off), I began leasing and then buying new vehicles (Ford had great Lease deals in the early 2000s, but stopped as they were losing money on them). So since then I've had Ford Rangers and currently a Nissan Frontier. I liked the Rangers, but Ford stopped making them. So I switched to the Frontier for 2017 and I really like it so far. We've had our own fights with homeowners insurance -- most recently the mortgage company, which makes us pay into an escrow fund because we can't be trusted to pay the insurance company, didn't pay the annual policy premium, then threatened to foreclose because we didn't have insurance, then told me it was -my- fault for not notifying them to pay the policy... It all got solved without major drama, but we were completely uninsured for a stretch of time, which they graciously told me that they'd allow. I know insurance in necessary, but I'm sure not a fan of insurance companies. Notice that "Cola" is still commonly used by many firms, but using Coca" in front of it is the sole domain of the Coca-Cola company. Putting two words previously not associated with each other is the key, so if they had used "Mike's Journal" or "American Picker's Journal" that would get them in the clear of any copyright/trademark issues. Is it worth pursuing? Who knows. I am not that concerned, in the big picture, and they haven't titled his writings as "A Picker's Journal." If they had, well, I know a top end Copyright lawyer who I would have already involved, and this blog post wouldn't exist. But, the question is, why did they not go with "An American Picker's Blog" or "Mike's Blog" or "Mike's Diary"? Why specifically choose "Picker's Journal" ? An accident? Unconscious plagiarism? Or blatant theft? Who knows. There is more background info that may (or may not) result in you mind swaying as you say "Hmmmmmm...."
FedoraAntiqueshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18065098950052613327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253026272586371233.post-33654654534845608862016-01-06T11:14:24.439-06:002016-01-06T11:14:24.439-06:00I dunno man. Picking and pickers seem to be a relatively common term, and the word journal has been around for a long time.

From someone who isn't a picker or has anything to do with antiques, it seems to be a fairly generic term for a relatively uncontrolled activity. It's not like any one person invented the term picker or journal.

I know a bit about how the courts work and the sheer cost of pursuing this avenue at a glance seems both futile and expensive with little probability of determining wrongdoing on the part of anyone. In short, I think you're flogging a dead horse that may have never been alive to begin with. I don't envision many lawyers seeing dollar signs dancing in their heads over this unless you paid a hefty retainer, after which they got nothing to lose anyway.

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't spend any more time mulling it over. Life is short enough without stuff like this occupying precious brain real estate and if you let it bug you it can lead to unhealthy resentment which may not really be founded.

Happy New Year Bear!
